I succeed to boot pandaboard with pre-built-in froyo. but audio in/out doesn't work with L27.10.2-P2 image.
- [00:27:59] <dreamingduck>
Is there anybody knows about this point?

I've loaded minimal fs onto sd card but the board does not show any output on console. one LED stays lit...
- [01:10:21] <noob>
Does it matter that it is a patriot sd card (4gb)..?

phew...setting last cylinder size option to +64M (for boot partition) helps
- [01:36:11] <mru>
the boot partition must be an even number of sectors
- [01:36:17] <mru>
cylinders are irrelevant

well, I used +1024M before...that didnt seem to work.
- [01:37:53] <noob>
I could see the files well and good when I plug it into the linux box but on the board, nothing seemed to happen.
- [01:37:59] <noob>
with 1024M setting.
- [01:38:51] <dreamingduck>
I failed to boot minimal fs with 4GB SDCard, but succeded with 2GB microSD.
- [01:40:47] <noob>

the sd card has to be configured with a certian number of cylinders, sectors...
- [01:57:02] <MrCurious>
http://gumstix.org/create-a-bootable-microsd-card.html
- [01:57:20] <MrCurious>
i BELIEVE that the sd is done the same between gumstix and pandaboard
- [01:57:30] <MrCurious>
follow those directions and it should work
- [01:57:48] <MrCurious>
of cource, use sources for pandaboard, just follow the directions enough to make the partitions and locate the files

arc welder
- [02:13:52] <prpplague>
ds2: good suggestions
- [02:18:14] <ds2>
the arc welder would be a good demo of LVDS... any common mode noise from the welder gets rejected by the DS

ds2: from 1.8v to 3.3v
- [02:43:10] <prpplague>
ds2: little easier for the hobbists
- [02:43:14] <ds2>
that doesn't sound very useful
- [02:43:32] <ds2>
but then I do level shifters for UART with a few 2N2222's in TO-92 package
- [02:44:28] <prpplague>
ds2: yea, you aren't really my target audience
- [02:45:48] <ds2>
it falls into it is so trivial why bother... you might as well put in overclocking strips for faster board ;)
- [02:47:01] <prpplague>
ds2: hehe, yea well 1.8v to 3.3V level shifting isn't that trial to a lot of hobbists
- [02:48:43] <ds2>
actually, 3.3V to 1.8V should be doable with a simple resistor assuming one reads the hardware specs very carefully
- [02:51:31] <prpplague>
ds2: that's assuming a lot
- [02:51:55] <ds2>
that is actually spec'ed out on quite a few parts from TI
- [02:52:18] <ds2>
and Microchip actually suggested a trick like that on their app notes
- [02:53:43] <ds2>
RTFM can be useful at times ;)

- [16:35:48] <lill>
i am using http://www.omappedia.com/wiki/PandaBoard_L27.10.2-P1_Release_Notes for building froyo for pandaboard
- [16:36:01] <lill>
cp -Rfp device/ti/blaze/buildspec.mk.default buildspec.mk
- [16:36:10] <lill>
why should i use blaze buldspec?
- [16:36:15] <lill>
+i
- [16:36:36] <prpplague>
lill: because at the time of that release there wasnt a panda specific buildspec
- [16:36:47] <lill>
hm ok
- [16:36:55] <prpplague>
lill: panda and blaze are similar enough that the build could used from blaze for panda
- [16:37:09] <lill>
mhm
- [16:37:29] <orbarron>
you could move to L27.12.1-P2 and that has panda build spec -- but they are mostly the same as blaze

GrueMaster: got a link to your kernel source?
- [19:03:17] <GrueMaster>
It is the ubuntu natty kernel. Let me look.
- [19:05:17] <prpplague>
GrueMaster: previously the usb phy was setup in the x-loader/aboot , now it is done in the kernel
- [19:05:25] <prpplague>
GrueMaster: you need to check for this patch - http://dev.omapzoom.org/?p=integration/kernel-ubuntu.git;a=commit;h=7d7e9392ac5ebe8a157c1c94704f79ef2fd41b9d

rsalveti: why do you have ohci at all?
- [19:19:29] <_av500_>
on what port?
- [19:19:44] <_av500_>
afaik its ohci or ehci per port
- [19:20:18] <rsalveti>
_av500_: don't know, probably because we enable most of the stuff
- [19:21:31] <GrueMaster>
Isn't ohci needed for low speed usb devices?
- [19:22:11] <GrueMaster>
(i.e. keyboards, mice, etc)
- [19:22:41] <prpplague>
GrueMaster: yes and no
- [19:23:04] <prpplague>
GrueMaster: if you are using the ohci in conjunction with the ehci on a single port yes

that was code listing 5.2

cant start net.eth0
- [23:42:31] <thomasg>
in that case, just remove /etc/init.d/net.eth0 (and rc-update del net.eth0 default)
- [23:43:15] <thomasg>
alternatively you can modify /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules to rename the interface

well tried both the first and for the secound /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules does not exist
